Anora

Sean Baker's Anora already won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and now the movie can get an Oscar. The film follows an eventful few weeks in the life of Ani, a stripper who marries Ivan, a young son of a Russian oligarch.
We spend much of Anora with an ever-growing hole in the pit of our stomachs, waiting for the inevitable. Of course, there come people to put an end to this marriage: an Armenian priest who works as the eyes and ears of Ivan’s parents in New York, a burly, bearded guy, and the sullen, watchful Igor (Yuriy Borisov). Yuriy Borisov, by the way, is the first Russian to be nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actor.

The Brutalist

An Adrien Brody-starring tale of a Hungarian architect and Holocaust survivor building a new future in the US. This is a huge and uncompromising cinematic statement and not just because it will take you three and a half hour to watch the movie.
The landscapes define the brutalist architectural style, which serves not only as a visual motif but also as a parallel to the characters’ emotional struggles.

With its rich world-building, the film has solidified its status as a cinematic masterpiece. Paul Atreides’ journey, navigating political machinations and interstellar conflict, explors issues of leadership, loyalty, and sacrifice. Will he stay together with the love of his life (Zendaya)?

Emilia Pérez

If you like music, watch this one. Audiard's brilliantly conceived and executed film erases the line between singing, dancing and acting, fusing them into something that keeps the movie blazing. Four remarkable women pursue happiness. Want to see how they do it?
